Desert and His Oasis Presence

Lately, I’ve been going through a time of discouragement.  You have those too?

It feels like I’m walking through a desert, forgotten.  Then my skin has the audacity to blister under the hot sun!  And lips are chapped, and I’m tired, with no relief in sight.

As I plod along, suddenly I trip, and now I have scrapes on my hands and knees.

“God, where are you?”  I cry out.  “If you would just show up, your Presence would change everything!  Don’t you hear me?”

My complaints at my predicament are louder than His voice.  Until....

I quieted my inner thoughts.  “I’m listening, God.”

‘When I called, they did not listen; so when they called, I would not listen,’ says the Lord Almighty.”‭‭Zechariah‬ ‭7:13‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“I’ve not been listening to you, have I?”  My own words convicted me.

“What is the last instruction I gave you?” He whispered.

“Write the book about women.”

“Yes!!!  Do that, and I will listen.”

Such a simple thing.  He wants to know that I’m serious about following Him and doing what He tells me too.  One part of seeking Him with my whole heart is to be careful to follow His instructions.

So, this week, I wrote 3 chapters of that book.  I feel closer to Him already.  I feel His ear tuned to my prayers again.

I see the Oasis in front of me...ready to give me rest.
