Fixing Messes
Today, as my husband and I put mortar around the stones on our fireplace, another lesson was learned.
For those of you who’ve never had this laborious task, it’s messy. Really messy. As in “how did I get concrete in my hair” kind of messy.
One part of this job is to clean off the stones after the concrete dries a little.
“How did I get all this concrete mortar on the face of the stones?” I asked somewhat to myself.
“You weren’t being careful,” I heard Holy Spirit tease me. (Yes, He has a sense of humor).
Another part of the job is to try and knock off the rough edges of the mortar once it dries. We used a wire brush and putty knife for this part.
“You know I do the same for you,” Holy Spirit whispered.
“I know you do. And I thank you because some of the messes You clean up, some of the rough edges you knock off are because I wasn’t being careful. Thank you!”
